Could be the heat riser busted or stuck in the "hot" position. Do you know for sure that yours moves freely and the flapper is still attached to the shaft? Heat risers can be neglected for a long time and the engine will still sort of run, but all kinds of wierd problems can show up depending on the weather and how the mechanism is stuck or broken.
Another thing to try is wait till it stalls, then pull the top off the carb and see what's in the bowl. Water? Gas? No gas? If no gas, unhook the fuel line and crank the engine and see if gas spurts out. If so, problem is in carb, if not problem is upstream. I like a clear fuel filter near the carb intake so I can see that fuel is going in.
