I think the disagreement is not over the price, but rather over what the definition of "restored" is. It's true that restoring, or even rebuilding, a truck can use up a lot of money, if done right.

That is not a restored truck. It is a very nicely rebuilt cab and chassis, with a custom bed.

"Restored" could mean different things to many people, but to the folks on this forum, who spend countless hours and dollars seeking out the last little widget to complete a truck, "restoration" means making it as close to factory-issue as possible.

We are understandably a bit touchy when the words "95% restored" are used to describe a truck that is missing 50% of its original body parts.

I have, for example, recently bought what was described as a 95% restored truck. It is 100% complete, the way it rolled off the factory floor in 1952, but it still needs around a thousand bucks of parts and labor to be perfect. It will never be 100%, and I don't want it to be.

...but I'm probably wrong.
