That's pretty interesting that a dealer installed that engine. I'd say you should have plenty of power to do most anything you want with that truck!
I'd also have to say you're right - if the tranny and rest of the drive train has handled the extra power for 45 years, then it probably will do just fine for a while yet. Sounds like a great project and a great truck. I love my flathead, and it gets me around, but sometimes I sure do think it would be nice to have the power of a V8.
