My 61' W200 Crew Cab has an auxillary gas tank located on the drivers side underneath(outside of cab) the main gas tank facing transversely. The extra tank is a rectangle. The spot where the sending unit would normally go had been professionally sealed, while the pipe coming out the bottom side of the main tank going to the extra tank looked like a vision impaired individual had welded it. This sloppy job DOES leak when I fill the gas above the lower pipe. I assume that since this was a Utah Forest Service truck that was mainly used on trails, that it was ordered with an extra tank. Heck while I'm asking, the short bed (5 1/2 FT.) Looks to have had something heavy duty mounted in the bed. Heavy duty enough to get rid of the tailgate and even CUT off some of the lip on both sides of the (Sweptline)bed that the tailgate used to rest against. Though the truck is a 3/4 ton it has a GVW of 8,000 and therefore came with 19.5" wheels(that weren't on the truck when I recieved it-sigh (8 bolt 19.5" rims not easy to find)). In addition the axles are 4.10's. I would have expected 4.89's for a trail truck used for heavy duty purposes. This truck raises more questions than it answers!! Anyone got any information on these auxillary tank set-ups or maybe pictures or information on Utah Forest Service trucks PLEASE give me a HOLLER!! Thanks!!
