I have looked at several concrete industry publication's and they all advise that 4" is the acceptable minimum thickness.

I am not saying you're wrong or that I wouldn't make it thicker, I probably would, just that there are differing opinion's on the subject and each is equally valid depending upon your source of reference.

On a side note. Here in Georgia we have a hard red clay pan base and I have seen many an old house (100 years plus) where the exterior brick fascia was laid directly on the ground (no foundation). After a century there is still no cracking or settling.

Good exchange of experience going on in this topic. Guess since Dodges will be parked on them it qualifys as "Dodge related"
