Finances being tight, I had to sell my trailer recently. I was considering the tow bar method for transporting my WC51 (once the restoration is complete) but I wasn't sure about moving that much un-braked weight. My tow vehicle is a desiel powered 3/4 ton GMC suburban, so it out weighs the Weapons Carrier by perhaps a ton... but I still worry about stopping that much weight.

Anyone ever seen or considered a surge brake actuator plumbed into the brake system of the towed vehicle? It seems it would be pretty simple to graft in, mounted level under the driver's seat, with an isolator valve of some sort to "turn it off" when you're actually driving the Dodge.

I know trailer supply places sell the surge brake actuators combined with the hitch... anyone know where to find the reservoir and actuator as a stand alone unit?
