OT But Value Opinions on Garden Tractor

I want to buy a new lawn/garden tractor (the Chapparel from '68 is worn out). I don't know of a mower deck to fit under my W-300, although (and it won't fit between the trees and shrubs)I have PTO's off the t-case and tranny. I would like a John Deere, because I've got a JD 350 Dozer (works great), and my Father-in Law and Brother-in-Law both have JD lawn tractors and love them. Why are JD's so expensive, and is there a lower cost source?
