Chains are fine for lumber....

They don't damage the vehicle, they are tighter than chains and work well in any weather conditions. I don't get the bearing damage thing, WHAT, is turning to damage the bearings?? Sounds like a old wife's tale to me?
Last tip, add about 10 lbs of air to each tire, AFTER, the load is secured, and you'll really be tied down tight.
