my days as a crew foreman running an Ellicott B-890 Dragon Wheel dredge. It was 110 feet long and could cut to a depth of 29 feet. It used double travelling spuds and was a blast to drive. We also had a baby tugboat and a pile driver mounted on a barge. In November and December, we had to constantly de-ice the dredge by bringing hot water out in the ballast tanks of the barge and hosing off the ice. We had to beach the fleet before the lake froze over completely in December.
