I was just watching a show on Speed Channel, Car Crazy, and the SEMA Rep. was talking about these sites that they have lobbied for. In days past, the aftermarket manufacturers would have to buy a vehicle, take it apart and reassemble it, to learn about modifying, dimisions, etc. These manufacturer sites allow an aftermarket supplier to design components without ever seeing the vehicle and enable parts to be in the marketplace years before they would normally be available for a new model.
Pretty informative site.
