I have seen the full size tank used on some military trucks. As Tom said the "big" fuel pump has a vacuum booster for the wipers. What is interesting is that the pump sections are opposite of the pump used on the M37. What is on top on one is on the bottom on the other. Unless someone has put a M37 pump on your 53 Power-Wagon.
