Looks like it's finally going to snow here in the Black Hills. It's been dry and dusty here for over a month. The forcast is for 10-18" by Monday morning. Woohoo! You can bet it will be wet and heavy this time of year. Where is "Outlaw" John when you need him. ( Hey! Dana started it. )
Brought the front drive axle in this morning in preparation to start taking it apart. Didn't want to have to drag it through a foot of snow.
Decided, a couple days ago, to make my own spring pins. Thought I'd better just make one rear one to start with to see how it would turn out. Used 41L42 steel and hardened it. Just finished grinding it about an hour and a half ago. Turned out nice. Now just five more rears and six fronts to go. Anyone ever use a different material for spring eye bushings? Originals are bi-metal ( steel shell with bronze inner surface to bear against the pin ). I'm thinking maybe aluminum bronze. ???
Have a good weekend all.
Brett
