Dave, I would be persistant with the slide hammer. That is the way I got mine. Being a machinist I made an alloy piece that screwed in the grease zirk hole, then made a 2 1/2 lb. slide tammer to pull it with. Use lots of your favorite liquid penetrating fluid. You'll get them just be persistant.
