Current Mac systems are based on UNIX and are inherently more difficult to penetrate than Windows. But most importantly, their share of the market is small and no one targets them. Viruses are just not a problem with Macs.
Furthermore, they have a better more intuitive operating system and can share most documents with Windows systems.
Major applications like Microsoft Office etc are available for Macs and PCs. Your digital cameras, video etc all work the same on a Mac.
Finally, Apple has a neat system for setting up your own web sites...like most things Apple...very easy to use. You can post pictures for example that can then come up as pictures to messages posted here. This is call dot mac
