The one-wire alternator is just that: one wire, which means no external regulator is used. You can abandon the stock regulator, and remove it.

The ammeter will need to wired in series with the main hot wire, going to the battery. Be sure to use one that can handle the maximum current output of the alternator, and remember that all that juice is going up to the dashbaosrd, and back again. Some people find that troubling. So, you can use a voltmeter, instead, and wire it pretty much anywhere.

On the so-called one-wire alternator, there are actually two other wires, one to excite the charging circuit, and one for the idiot light. Your dealer can show you how to hook it up. The excitation lead should be switched 12 volts, off when the ignition switch is off, to prevent battery drain.
