Our UAP/NAPA dealer found a Fram C31 p as the nearest fit.
Dimensions are right ..... 4 3/8 by 7 7/8 ..... will now test it in the can and run the engine for a half hour.
If no leaks are detected and sludge builds up in the filter I am in business. Will order two more and repeat the process with finally leaving synthetics in the engine.
I had considered taking the oil pan off to clean out the deposit but I am not sure if it worth the effort.....Any suggestion???
The engine was rebuilt in 1988 and ran no more than 4k miles since.... but I am not sure if the oil was ever changed..
Thanks for the help ...... maybe this Fram number should be added to the list of specs at the beginning of the Forum.
