Hi Scott!

Yes, it can be taken off, but with tender loving care! The bearing mounts to the outside, but there are 95 loose roller bearings that run on the drive shaft inside. If the shaft is pulled to much forward (.5 inch) bearings can drop to the bottom of the TC! Follow this procedure:

1. Take off the yoke and the 4 bearing retainer bolts;

2. Place your hand palm at the end of the drive shaft and push (plenty of pressure) towards the TC. This is to keep that shaft in place and from comming forward with the bearing retainer as you work it off;

3. Gently work that retainer and bearing off, keep pressure on;

4. Once off, rap tape from the end of the shaft to around the TC. This is to keep that shaft from sliding forward.

5. Check for fit of retainer after new bearing is in place. Bearing retainer should fit against case or very close, but can also be shimmed by using gaskets if needed.

6. You can make a gasket or get one from your Dodge dealer. Part# 927395

Good Luck!
