A few weeks ago I had a simular noise in my '95 Chevy. The oil pressure was ok,so was the oil level.I would have never thought that a piece of carbon could cause this noise. It sounded just a bearing going out.I bought the truck new,as it now has 110k miles on it.Anyway, what I did to cure the problem will probably go against ethics.I started the engine & let it reach normal operating temperature. With the air cleaner top off,I poured approximatley 20 oz. of water through the throttle body. This was at an idle.If you pour it to fast, you'll naturally kill the engine...so remember to pour slowly. After a few minutes the knock was gone.I've put about 1000k miles on it since with no problems. You might try this before tearing into things.Has anyone else tried this? Good luck.Jim in OK.
