David, My son and I listened to both wave files and we also think it sounds like a rod knock. Try removing the plug wires one at a time while running and listen to see if the knock goes away or lessens. If it goes away it is an indication of a bad rod bearing on that cyl. (Similar thing might be heard with a broken piston, but not likely with this engine.) Without being there with my sounding rod or my son's good ears it is hard to make anything other than a guess. If it is a rod knocking the crank has most likly gotten some out of round and should be ground. Bob
