I just read your posting. I recently purchased a 1962 300... I thought I was buying a one ton but it turns out to be a 1,5 ton (dual real wheels).
I've been in 5 ton military vehicles that were smoother rides that this beast.
I needed NOS brake drums.... found a guy in New York city of all places that sold me some for a nominal fee of $800.00. Now I'm trying to find steering mechanism components that appear to be all but non-existant. Anyway, I just wanted to share with fellow 62er. Good luck.
