I followed your lead and tested the electric wires on the vacuum hose lump thing: As long as the car key switch on, and that wires connected, then 4X4 indicator ENGAGED ON, even in 2H, 4H, N, 4L...
That means some power (from vacuum?) connects the axle between tire and 3rd member, that will turn 4X4 indicator ON. And that power depends on transfer case MODES, 2H, 4H...
I will test that vacuum hose later. If vacuum ON, then connect the axle or not?
