had the pleasure of thinking a valve was sticking on an M37 engine as it would do it sometimes and then not do it!! I found the valve spring had actually broken and as the stem would spin, the break in the spring would line up just right for the spring to collapse thus causing the symptom, then next time it was started the spring would be back in alignment and the valve would appear to be ok!!They are fairly easy to replace especially after you have the cover off..you just need to remove the head...Have fun!!
