The truck was original to be based on the Durango with it's CAB and dash the same, but when they found the size of that Dakota design so close to the RAM, they sent the Studio Designers back to the Clay/Drawing board to shrink it down some. We won't know until the Spec's are released but here is the numbers on the '04 Dakota and RAM:
'04 Dakota
Head Room: Front 39.5 inches
Head Room: Rear 38.3 inches
Leg Room: Front 41.9 inches
Leg Room: Rear 36.0 inches
Shoulder Rm: Front 57.2 inches
Shoulder Rm: Rear 57.4 inches
'04 RAM
Head Room: Front 40.8 inches
Head Room: Rear 40.0 inches
Leg Room: Front 41.0 inches
Leg Room: Rear 36.4 inches
Shoulder Rm: Front 67.0 inches
Shoulder Rm: Rear 66.7 inches
'04 Colorado
Head Room: Front 39.6 inches
Head Room: Rear 38.3 inches
Leg Room: Front 44.0 inches

From these you can see the existing Dakota is wider interior than the Colorado.
