I would agree that if the only thing you haul around is your lunch box, buy a gasser. You'll probably only have it for 4-5 years anyway then trade it in on a new one.
But... I had my green monster (87 GMC 1 ton crew cab) for 3 years and put 100,000 miles on it. I also had to put in a new engine, rebuild the front end, brakes, radiator, battery.etc etc... The last year I owned that truck, it probably cost me $300-$400 to keep it on the road, and it did'nt even have a raido!
I guess if your spending that much a month to keep a old beater on the road, with the breakdowns and what not... why not just make the payment and have a reliable CTD (with a raido even!)?
Granted, I bought my CTD a few years old with a whopping 22k on the clock. I saved about $18k over buying a similarly equipped new Dodge.
