At 18 mpg you wouldn't. However I haven't met ANYONE that drives in SoCal and gets anything close to that in a ferd or gm. Thos old Dodge 360's got pretty good mileage, unfortunately they don't make them anymore, and I will never again screw up and buy another ferd.
My calculation was based upon the mileage that the questioneer was getting, 10 mpg. The differential I used was 8 mpg. That means a Cummins getting 20 vs. a gasoline motor getting 12, or any other varible of 8, AND I said in my post that, "your mileage may vary" ha!ha!
For the record, my power joke was getting 9 mpg empty. My Cummins gets close to 18 in town. Based upon my total mileage, the lower cost of diesel fuel here and the fuel mileage, I'm almost half paid for after 20 months, AND I have 75,000 miles left on my warantee!
Just to shut you up and end this drivel, I'll compromise with you, if you have a gas guzzler you can save Canadian money with a Cummins, whether you tow or not! ha!ha!
Or in laymens terms, you will pay for 1/3 of your Cummins by driving to Hollister this year!
