It's good stuff...I guess it's like anything, it depends how good the shop is that did your plating but they were originally cad plated from Dodge & I've seen many original trucks where most of the plating is still intact.
When I installed my rings I did it by hand...no banging with hammers. The rings went on perfectly & considering my rims were blasted, the rings seated in perfectly & with a little tire mounting soap, they filled up & no damaged rims.
Do I recommend anyone else doing this at home you ask? No, definitely not. Let a tire shop do them but if you plate the rings the paint on the rims is more susceptible to damage than the plating on the lock ring.
