Lock Ring Rim Question

Know a lot of you guys run the stock lock ring rims on your trucks. Just wonder if any on you have first hand knowledge of any these types of rims failing in service. The stories I always seen are in regards to someone servicing/inflating a wheel without proper safety equipment/procedure (I.E. safety cage, clip on inflator, etc). In talking to the three truck tire shops in my area which will work on these types of wheels they didn't feel they particular unsafe. Just looking for some first hand feedback, not second or third hand stories.
