I have a '98 Ram2500 with a V10. Truck has 50k miles and is used for towing and hauling water in the winter and a camper in the summer.

It does not matter if I am hauling, towing, or empty - the truck gets 9 - 11 miles/gal on the highway.

Engine has been great - no problems. The transmission had problems and was replaced by Dodge under a extended warranty.

The way I look at it - for the extra thousands of dollars that a Cummins cost - you can buy a lot of gas.
