Our '48 PW had a poor 12v conversion done to it. The alternator is not working. I believe it's a Delco. I was talking to an auto parts store who said that I should be using a "one-wire" alternator. I asked them how does one hook up the ammeter gauge. Their reply was that it was no problem but those old Chrysler ammeters burn up all the time. Now I'm even more confused. Any ideas? I don't mind hooking up an older style alternator (with internal regulator) and I'd hate to not have an ammeter gauge.
