Calling all PW mechanics.
I usually practice troubleshooting maintenance, due to budget constraints and laziness. When my truck doesn't work right, I fix it. Unfortunately, sometimes when one component fails it can take others with it.
Next is preventive maintenance. I like to inspect components and systems, and I keep things lubed.
Predictive maintenance is the ultimate type, by which you repair or replace items BEFORE they fail. Have we, or should we compile a list of maintenance items for our 50 year old Power Wagons? I find myself wondering if an axle is more likely, statistically at least, to fail before a driveshaft, for example (some assumptions have to be made, like proper lubrication). Things that don't give a lot of warning but might spoil your latest Power Wagon mission. I can't find or buy a spare everything, but do venture far afield occasionally.
Just wondering.
Tom
