I used a 1/2 ton Chey to bring my PW home minus the bed. On the scales I weight in at a couple pound short of 12,000 lbs. My Chevy weights 5250 with a driver leaving 6,750 for the trailer and truck. The trailer was rated at 7000 lbs and was sorta maxed except the drive train was in the back of the Chevy (Engine, Trans, shafts extra parts ect.)Bed. As you can see even with a 4 inch lift kit I saged quite a bit. If all the weight had been on the trailer it would have steered better. It did OK on the flats as far as doing the speed limint but I had my fingers crosed I would not blow a tire or have to sreer aeound someone fast!! Stopping was no problem as long as the trailer brakes were working. Going down steep hills I had to use them a lot. Going up a steep hill I had to use low range 4X4 with out the hubs locked in to pull the grade. My secondarys were opening most of the time to keep up speed and realy open pulling the hills and it would slow me down to where 2nd was better to pull with. After I got it home (50 miles) I was wanting a bigger truck and would have killed this truck if I went a real long ways or it was hot out. I had headers, low gears, strong off road gas shocks, compitision Carburation ect on the truck too. When I finished the truck I towed it on the trailer to town (down hill) and it felt a lot better with all the load on the trailer and the Chevy was sitting level too. Still it was all the truck would do to tow it. Going home I still had to go into Low Range again. Pulling a 2,000 lb tractor on the trailer is nice towing the PW ??? I would not recomend it at all except for short distances (10-30 miles) and cool weather it is to much load real for the set up. Mark H.
