Chris,

I'm with Glen. I wouldn't put three yards in my truck. If my estimates are right, I believe 1 yard of dirt is between 2000 lbs and 2500 lbs, so you'd be hauling somewhere between 6000 lbs and 7500 lbs. I have a '49 Power Wagon and I once hauled about 6500 lbs of dirt in it (give or take a few hundred pounds), and it was about all that truck could take. That was about double the rated payload capacity. The springs were reverse arched while all the weight was in the bed. That can't be good for anything. Steering was squirrely or at least not nearly as responsive as it usually is. Braking (or lack of) was a little scary. I'm just glad it was early on a Sunday morning, with very little traffic around. And that was with nearly all of the truck's components rebuilt/replaced. I only had about 10 miles to take that load, so I got by, but even then I wouldn't want to do it again.

In the future, I think I will limit it to 5000 lbs when I carry anything in my Power Wagon.

I think two yards would be a good quantity to haul with a Power Wagon.

That's my point of view.

Matt
