You are better off pouring a pad down in the hole for the post to sit on than encapsulating the post in the concrete. Encapsulating them will really rot them out as the water will run down them and never get out. As the wood swells and contracts, spaces will open up between the post and the concrete for the water to get into. If Frost is an issue in your area, use a bracket to attach the bottom of the post to your concrete pad, otherwise the frost will jack the post right out of the ground, leaving the pad behind.
