Plasma cutters ,TIG, MIG

With the weather about to break,(hopefully soon) I have a lot of metal to cut and weld on my truck. I've seen a lot of the worksmanship on this forum, (actualy craftmanship)and I was wondering about the difference of plasma cutters, Tig and Mig mentioned. In layman terms, can anyone help me out here? Thanks. Dave
