It allways bugged me thinking that they releaved oil presure right off the bearings to filter it. My picture did not make this clear. Yours shows the engineers figured that problem out using the valve for this use also. So it did not lower the presure to the bearings unless there was extra flow to do it with. In a full flow system this would not matter because the filter is in the middle of the flow to the bearings. I never have been able to answer this question till now.
