I've had mine about 6 mos. (an '01 also) now and love it. It has the HO with 6-spd. Only one real road trip so far. A 500mile run up to WV. 'Got 16 mpg, pulling a cast iron U-haul loaded with a Taurus Wagon. On the return, alternated between 19 and 20--no trailer.
They say the new ones make only about half the noise (I'm getting used to it) and you can't get the extended cab anymore. The option of "real" diesel sound and this cab ought to be around forever!
