...so, after letting the computer warm up and getting all logged onto the net through my dial up modum, the first thing I did was check this Forum. Having read your post, I pulled on my coveralls (it is in the teens here) and went out to the garage to find your answer. After jacking up the truck and draining the differential lubricant, I pulled an axle shaft and checked the length. After cutting a new gasket and installing a new oil seal, refilling the differential with lubricant, letting the truck back down off the jack, and putting my tools away, I came back inside to get a shower and clean the grease and crud off of me. I figured I should fold some laundry after I retreived a towel from the dryer. After this was all finished, it was back to the computer to sit down and write this message. So...after all of that, I can confidently confirm, that yes...the axle shafts are measured from the "inside" of the flange.

No question from you, Fred, is ever too much trouble... ;^)
