convert a 2 wheel to a four wheel drive

I was wondering, I have a civilian half ton pickup 2 wheel drive, in restoration now. How difficult is it to convert to a four wheel drive? I have the four speed with the cover on the pto area, is it basically just adding the pto, front drive axel and driveshaft or are there some steering issues also? I have a 4.10 ratio on the existing rear axel now. thanks for any answers, Dave
