This is what I would do...I would suggest looking for a 2500 3/4 ton.
Look up the specs on the 1/2 ton. What is the max Gross Combination Vehicle Weight
(GCVW) dont go over that weight. You also need to consider the weight of your trailer and 3/4 ton WC. I believe you will be running on the margin if not over. A Ram 2500 would be your best bet. Its easy to overload a 1500 going to Walmart shopping.

By going with the 2500, the important items such as brakes will be larger. Whatever you do, dont run on the margin or overloaded. Its your life !! Towing a heavy truck needs proper equipment to do it safe. Get the Dodge Specs, figure your max weights including trailer so you can make a prudent decision. Dont forget when adding up all weights, you need to add any thing you will most likly be carrying on the trailer or in the truck when the entire combination is coupled.
