Little off topic but I had my front teeth fixed a few months back...two new crowns & the dentist used a CNC machine. I've never seen anything like it...he takes a picture of your tooth with a 3D camera...programs it into the CNC machine & this thing cuts you a new tooth within minutes! When it finishes cutting the new crown fits on perfectly.
It's absolutely amazing & I imagine they do use a giant sized machine just like this for pattern making these days.
Incidentally, the Dentist's little CNC machine cost $250,000!
