I've seen them in a few places. I don't know about your area, but out here in the Midwest, a deer can get to 300+ pounds. And the fact that there are so many crossing every highway around, any trick to help the driver out is good.
I lost my first truck to an eight point about 15 years ago. I also had a friend who had a deer run into the side of his truck while he was going about 60. Caved his door in and the deer ran off.
