I have a 1991 with 3.08 rear end. It was the only ratio available in 1991 with the auto. The transmission doesn't have overdrive. Absolutely go for it!! I love mine and it pulls terrifically. I have only towed about 10000# with my W-250, but I have no complaints. The transmission is the venerable 727 and is bomb-proof. Good luck.
