Back in my pre truck days, when I was 12, 13, and 14, I played with antique tractors, Mostly old IH-Farmalls and Allis Chalmers. Anyhow, when I was 12 years old We had a neighbor who had a Farmall A he wanted to get rid of. Well my neighbor built pole barns for a living, and Dad was doing some work helping him on the side. Well, The same neighbor had me working for him some, and he knew how I loved tractors, so he'd always have me on the tractor driving, Leveling ground....etc. I fell in Love with the little "A". Larry needed a place to keep it, and we let him keep it at our place. Larry Told me to use the tractor, enjoy it, and take care of it, like it was my own! Well, That I did. That was in September before Christmas. Well, the longer time went on, I bugged Larry to sell it to me, but he wouldnt. Finally that year for Christmas, one of my Gifts was a I&T Shop Manual for the Letter Series Farmalls. Then I got in my stocking tune up parts for a Farmall A! Points, Condensor, Cap, rotor, Wires, Plugs etc. Then another present was a Farmall A Toy...I was begining to wonder, why all this stuff for a Farmall, A tractor when I didnt own one??? Finally, My Dad told me to go outside by the shed (where I kept the A Parked) and look under the silver tarp for my Big Christmas Gift. I ran out there, Pulled the tarp off, and there it was...My A Farmall with a huge red bow taped to radiator! Now I know why all those months, Larry and Dad told me to take care of it, like it was 'My own" and that Dad did all that side work helping Larry build buildings...He didnt make any money off it, but worked till he had paid for the tractor. I was the happiest boy in the world! I no longer have that tractor, but Have a Farmall H That I bought myself last Christmas time.

We are still friends with Larry and his Family, after all these years, and Larry, is the guy I am buying the '47 WDX Power Wagon From....SOmethings never Change......

The pic is not my A, but what an A looks like.

Happy New years all!
