I agree on the air chisel vs torch. I haven't worked on a mid-70s Dodge specifically, but on some spot welds I've had good luck just drilling the "spot" out with a slightly larger drill bit. I also use a cutting wheel on a 4" angle grinder a lot (use a good face shield, I use a welding helmet when I'm in close quarters, and protect all glass, etc. that can get scarred by the sparks). The air-operated cutting wheels are quieter but that requires having a good sized compressor nearby. Another tool I couldn't live without is the sawzall with "The Torch" wide metal blades, kind of unwieldy, but in certain situations it does a great job.
