It could be wrong but my Great Pyr told me his ancestor helped start the newfie breed with (a type of retriever). Mabey thats where the white came from? He is good in the bush, watching my back, & circeling somewhere out there about 800 yds I think, constantly coming back to check & then off again. I laughed when him & my golden are together he tiptoes around little puddles & the golden splashes right through. I had to drag him across a whitewater river last year, & he has a new attitude & crosses on his own now, although he sometimes he ends up WAY downstream. He was with me when I rolled my truck (4 times) left a deep claw mark on my back as he escaped out where the windshield was (I think). I have bucket seats & wnen I drive fast or hit some washboard he "not so gently" paws at my right arm & shoulder, & stares straight into my eye.haha It wouldnt be the same without them, & they sleep in the house (hair & all).
