I am curious why there has not been talk of adapting this engine into any 230 powered Dodge 4x4.It is easily upgraded for more hp
using the 4.0 head. It would require an adapter plate or bellhousing but, at least we get to stay brand loyal! I just bought a 258 out of a 82'CJ8 scrambler for $50.00.
I now have a 258 engine to TRY and adapt to
a NP420 tranny and/or hopefully the original
L-head WDX-WM style bellhousing.
Would it be easier to try and build an adapter plate to try and use the original PW bellhousing or build an adapter plate for the rear(tranny) of the 258 bellhousing to adapt the NP420 tranny to it? Purhaps I could use the 420 with the longer pilot shaft
for this? Any suggestions will be considered.
