Kevin,

Look for brass shim stock .001, .002 and .003 thickness to use as shims between the bearing inserts and caps. Use plastic gauge to measure the clearance. Rods are .001 and mains .002. Once the rods/mains are in specs, any brand will work fine. To determine if the ranck needs a regrind, run a penny across the journal. If it leaves a trail of copper, time to regrind.
