...modify it somewhat. The Howell system I mentioned is the gm system, Howell is the vendor for gm. It is a TBI type system, not tied to the computer and can be adjusted. However the MPI, Mopar unit, while not adjustable manually, can be adjusted more preciesly by the computer. That is why it costs so much more than the gm system. The Mopar system is by far the more efficient and powerful of the two, but also very expensive. The Clifford unit is completely adjustable and the most expensive. I think if he wants a cheap Do It Yourself unit he should use the TBI system, but tuning on a budget is why I said "no". RD is trying to stay under $1,000 and while I think a home made system will be possible for that price, I do not think it will work very well, unless he has all the sensors and controls for free to go with it. Maybe a trip to a junk yard for a Howell (gm) V-6 system?? But He'd need the computer control unit and the pick-up points on the vibration damper that would be real tricky adapting to the 251. Clifford can do it, but again at a cost.
