Most of you guys here are old enuff to be my Dad...and Yet, I know vacuum tubes and Carbs. When I was in high school, I used to collect older Tube type AM radios, and I think I still have 3 big totes of Good used and even brand new tubes floating around someware. I still have alot of those old radios as well.
And yes, I cut my teeth on Carbs and points. I know carbs better than I know EFI. It wasnt untill about 3 years ago, till I was brave enuff to buy a FI vehicle. Carbs were good untill the 80's when they made the electronic carb! man what a joke! I must admit tho, I do prefer the Throttle body style of Fuel injection tho. Those are almost as simple as an old Carb, but they run so much better and are almost trouble free. I also know how to fix Magitos, as I played with antique tractors, before I messed with trucks and cars. Oh yea, and how many other folk my age can drive a 3 on the tree with out jamming it every time, Start a vehicle with the foot pedal on the floor and double clutch?
In all honesty, I am one of the 'Old Dogs', Trapped in a young mans body......
