Rear shocks?

I have a '56 C3PW and there are no shocks. The shock brackets on the front and I have gotten responses on the forum for types to buy.

There are no shock support brackets on the rear. Were rear shocks put on these trucks? Were they on removable brackets? The manual does not specify whether there are rear shocks.
